Last weekend I was in Anderson, South Carolina speaking to a group of progressive Christians. I devoted one of my lectures to Christian nationalism and mentioned Lance Wallnau, one of the most prominent Seven Mountain Dominionists in the country. None of them had ever heard of Wallnau, but I urged them to get out of their progressive bubbles and come to the grips with the fact that in the Trump era this charismatic “prophet” was becoming more and more mainstream. 60 Minutes is even paying attention to him.
On Saturday, Wallnau will be hosting GOP vice-presidential candidate J.D. Vance in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. Learn more here.
Let’s be clear about Wallnau. Over the past few years he has:
- Prophesied the sudden deaths of anti-Trumpers.
- Said Kamala Harris was a “witch” empowered by “occult deception, manipulation, and domination.”
- Sold Seven Mountain Dominion Christmas ornaments
- Engaged in “stealth” operations to advance Christian dominionism over American communities.
- Promoted of conspiracy theories related to the assault on Paul Pelosi.
- Hawked King Cyrus coins on the television show of disgraced televangelist Jim Bakker.
- Said Kamala Harris has a “Jezebel spirit“

Here, again, is the passage on Wallnau in my book Believe Me: The Evangelical Road to Donald Trump:
Early in the 2016 campaign, Lance Wallnau received a similar word: “Donald Trump is a wrecking ball to the spirit of political correctness.” When Wallnau’s prophecy caught the attention of Trump’s evangelical supporters, he was invited to attend a meeting with the candidate and other evangelical leaders in Trump Tower. As Wallnau listened to Trump talk about his desire to give evangelicals a more prominent voice in government, he sensed that God was giving him an “assignment”–a “calling related to this guy.” One day, while he was reading his Facebook page, Wallnau saw a meme predicting that Trump would be the “45th president of the United States.” God told Wallnau to pick up his Bible and turn to Isaiah 45. On reading this passage, Wallnau realized that, not only would Trump be a “wrecking ball” to political correctness, but he would be elected president of the United States in the spirit of the ancient Persian king Cyrus. In the Old Testament, Cyrus was the secular political leader whom God used to send the exiled kingdom of Judah back to the Promised Land so that they could rebuild the city of Jerusalem and its holy Temple. Wallnau was shocked by the discovery. “God was messing with my head,” he told Steven Strang, the editor of Charisma, a magazine that covers Independent Network Charismatics and other Pentecostal and charismatic movements (and claims a circulation of over 275,000). From this point forward, Wallnau would become an outspoken supporter of Donald Trump.
Here are a couple of the slides I used in my presentation in Anderson last weekend”
Wallnau wants Christians to take over all of these “mountains” of culture in order to precipitate the second coming of Jesus Christ:

Wallnau stumped for fellow dominionist and Christian nationalist Doug Mastriano in 2022:

He was mentioned on Washington Week tonight.
