The political landscape in America changed on November 6, 2024. We at Current are grappling with what that means.
If you are a regular reader, you can continue to expect us to defend the free institutions of democracy when they are threatened by the authoritarian impulses of President-Elect Donald Trump. None of us are happy with the election results.
At the same time, we want to listen to the majority of Americans who voted to turn the page on the Biden-Harris years. Americans are angry. We at Current want to understand the elements of this anger that are rooted in the things worthy of genuine concern.
We want to expose the deficits in the existing forms of left and right, pointing to new forms of alliance, connection, and solidarity.
And, of course, you can continue to expect our regular feast of book reviews, creative non-fiction, roundups, and blog posts.

As always, thanks for reading and supporting Current.
And John, thanks to you and your hardworking staff!
Thank you for the great material you put out. And thank you for your statement. I hope the next four years are easier than we expect.
Thanks Chris and Catherine! And thanks for your ongoing support of our work!
