We are #41!

John Fea   |  May 17, 2024

I have no idea what this means, but a site called Feed Spot ranks The Way of Improvement Leads Home Podcast 41st in its “70 Best American History Podcasts” list.

We haven’t done a new episode yet in 2024, but I hope we can return soon. Support our work at Current to make this happen.

Sounds pretty good to be #41 in the podcasts. It deserves that. I sure will look forward to more in the coming year. I remain a fan.
For everything else about Current, I don’t always get to read it as often as I like, but I do read. I spent several hours last evening reading.

You’re at #40 if The Bowery Boys hadn’t appeared on the list twice.

Looking at the list I notice a pattern. Podcasts by early-career academics seem to be less sustainable than those by more seasoned historians. The Juntocast (#62 on the list) hung up its tricorn hat in 2020, and Daniel Gullotta’s Age of Jackson podcast has been on hiatus since 2022. You and Gerry Prokopowicz (#22 on the list) keep going, though. Keep up the good work!

I thought that Michael Patrick Cullinane’s Gilded Age & Progressive Era poscast might be an exception to this pattern, but I now see that Apple Podcasts somehow forgot that I was following it. It seems that I’ve got some catching up to do with that one!
