Saturday was the third anniversary of the January 6th insurrection on the U.S. Capitol. We continue to deal with the fallout of this dark moment in American history. Next month the Supreme Court may decide if Trump was an insurrectionist and whether he gets to stay on the ballot in Colorado (and presumably other states.) On Friday, Joe Biden opened his campaign with a Valley Forge-area speech reminding us of what happened on January 6th. Meanwhile, in Iowa, Trump was using the term “hostages” to describe those in prison for their role in the insurrection (see below).
Everyone was talking about January 6th this weekend, accept most of the old court evangelicals:
Samuel Rodriguez: NOTHING
Jim Garlow: NOTHING
Robert Jeffress: NOTHING
Ralph Reed: NOTHING
Johnnie Moore: NOTHING
Gary Bauer: NOTHING
Tony Perkins: NOTHING
Greg Laurie: NOTHING
Jack Graham: NOTHING
Jentezen Franklin: NOTHING
Paula White: NOTHING
James Dobson: NOTHING
James Robison: NOTHING
Franklin Graham: NOTHING
Eric Metaxas DID have some commentary:
While Metaxas was spewing conspiracy theories, here are some of the things the other old court evangelicals WERE talking about this weekend. I understand that many of these men and women are members of the clergy and they need to prepare for Sunday services. But that did not prevent them from using their platforms to talk about other moral and political issues.
Gary Bauer:
Tony Perkins:
Jack Graham:
And Graham reposted this:
Jentezen Franklin:
James Robison:
Franklin Graham:
Graham also reposted this:
Meanwhile, Donald Trump is on the campaign trail in Iowa doing this:
And this (John McCain cannot lift his arm):
And this:
And this:
No commentary yet from the old court evangelicals on Trump’s comments this weekend, but Mike Huckabee was heading to Iowa (the trip got canceled due to snow):
Invaluable work again, John. Who wrote and narrated that God is Trump bilge? That’s demonic blasphemy.
