Readers of this blog know that I am a big N.T. Wright fan. His book on the resurrection, The Resurrection of the Son of God, strengthened my Christian faith. Today I want to call your attention to Wright’s new book Into the Heart of Romans: A Deep Dive into Paul’s Greatest Letter. I haven’t read it yet, but Skye Jethani of The Holy Post podcast has. I encourage you to listen to Jethani’s interview with Wright:
My main takeaway from this interview is that chapter 8 of St. Paul’s Epistle to the Romans is about Christian vocation. Wright also brings this notion of vocation to bear on the Israeli-Hamas conflict. It’s worth a listen.
Sorry, John, but both of these gents are misinterpreting Romans including chap 8. I’ll explain tomorrow. Here’s a clue. Chapter 2 sets the context for the entire letter especially verses 24, 28-29. BTW, the roots of the Israel/Palestinian/Hamas conflict are in Joshua where Judah failed to subdue the Canaanites/Philistines there.
Have you read much of Wright?
