French says he is still getting emails from people saying that his New York Times column on Liberty University did not go far enough in exposing the university’s “moral collapse.” French wonders why evangelicals are so judgmental of people outside the church and so tolerant of moral misconduct inside the church.

    Alberta’s chronology is important. The institutional rot at Liberty began at it’s founding. The roots go deep in the Fundamentalist movement of Bob Jones and John R Rice, extend through Falwell Sr, and blossom into the Trumpist movement of 2020.
