Did God answer Franklin Graham’s prayer? Evangelicals respond to what happened today in the Oval Office

John Fea   |  February 28, 2025

What an embarrassment for the United States of America.

Watch:

President Donald J. Trump and Vice President JD Vance put AMERICA FIRST. pic.twitter.com/AkAvzKpcpb

— The White House (@WhiteHouse) February 28, 2025

ZELENSKYY: Putin broke the ceasefire. What kind of diplomacy, JD, are you speaking about?

VANCE: I think it's disrespectful to come into the Oval Office and try to litigate this in front of the American media pic.twitter.com/P5Qjz1AGi5

— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) February 28, 2025

Some American evangelicals are responding:

Did God answer Franklin Graham’s prayer?:

I talked with President @ZelenskyyUa this morning and assured him I would be praying for his meeting with @POTUS @realDonaldTrump. Will you join me in praying for God to give them wisdom?

— Franklin Graham (@Franklin_Graham) February 28, 2025

Wow! President Trump and JD Vance just told Zelenskyy exactly what millions of Americans have wanted to tell him, right to his face. Someone needed to say it. pic.twitter.com/WegZypSrvy

Look at these guys brag about bullying an ally under fire. Pathetic. Weak. Shameful. https://t.co/JJwgCMa26X

— David French (@DavidAFrench) February 28, 2025

This is utterly shameful. This is Vladimir Putin's best outcome. The U.S. is placing pressure on a free nation fighting for its life while giving aid and comfort to an authoritarian thug. https://t.co/EpXoW8FOVq

— David French (@DavidAFrench) February 28, 2025

Trump is too much of a coward to say a bad thing to Putin, yet he dares lecture Zelensky?Russia is on the verge of collapse and Trump/Vance are desperate to save them

I’ve never seen a scene like this from the Oval Office. I’ve never seen a VP speak out of turn like this or two world leaders talk over each other like this.

Incredible America First diplomacy on display. https://t.co/cs8kKj0wwy

I LOVE IT that Trump kicked Zelenskyy the grifter to the curb

— Jenna Ellis 🐊 (@realJennaEllis) February 28, 2025

This is one of the most incredible 7 minutes. Watch @POTUS and @JDVance respond instantly to grandstanding. pic.twitter.com/SaEYLUh1h1

— Ryan Helfenbein (@RHelfenbein) February 28, 2025

We have NEVER seen anything close to the leadership we are seeing in Trump and Vance. The video of the Zelensky meeting is simply ASTONISHING. It is a gift from God to the whole world that we have this kind of leadership in our nation. God bless America! https://t.co/EVPNdRki02

— Eric Metaxas (@ericmetaxas) February 28, 2025

If Ukraine isn’t ashamed and is okay with having a president who played the piano on live TV with his genitalia, I’m not ashamed and ok with our President putting their president in his place on live TV. https://t.co/dbr8sxWHGI

It is being reported that Zelensky called VP JD Vance a сука (bitch) on a hot mic.

How can anyone defend his actions inside the Oval Office of the United States of America?pic.twitter.com/bRIzEZ2n79

— Sean Feucht (@seanfeucht) February 28, 2025

How does it feel to have real leaders at the @WhiteHouse again? pic.twitter.com/xR8oIVq9DU

— Sean Feucht (@seanfeucht) February 28, 2025

WOW. 🤯🤯🤯

Accountability is coming and Americans are watching it unfold in REAL TIME. 🙏🏽🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/j7wk0ZRyHN

Today’s Oval Office meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy was shameful. President Zelenskyy represents a nation whose citizens have sacrificed their lives and shed blood for the freedoms they cherish. He deserves respect, not humiliation.

— John Kasich (@JohnKasich) February 28, 2025

I don’t believe you. pic.twitter.com/jAw4eW1I6O

— Mike Cosper (@MikeCosper) February 28, 2025

Many folks suggesting that Zelenskyy should have played the game, been more deferential, done the dance because aid is all that matters.

But he has an entire European constituency looking to him for leadership, as well as the whole of his nation and his enemies.

Putin, of all…

I imagine this kind of interchange among leaders is not uncommon. Not completely cool for the VP to chide President Z for doing this on TV–whose idea *was* it to have this conversation in public? (President Trump did say “this is going to make great television,” and that’s something he *does* know about…but is it great statecraft?)

Random thoughts while watching US foreign policy implode: Unmitigated disaster for the US and the free world. They are now two separate worlds as the US joins the Axis of Evil. So how about the US and its voting buddies at the UN — Russia, North Korea, Nicaragua, Belarus, etc.? Other than give money and other support to Musk, Trumpy, Vance, curropt Republicans, etc., what will the US as a nation gain from their new alliance?

It’s funny how vacuous Trumpy and Vance were — they even had to repeat their well-known lies, e.g., the $350 billion lie, and saying that Zelenskyy didn’t say thanks. You’d think those two clowns would at least have gotten some better framed points in a briefing beforehand.

Let’s be honest about the pro-life movement in the US, it’s loaded with so many anti-lifers that it’s hard to take serious anymore. (Have you tried to recruit teens to the pro-life cause, they can see through the hypocrisy of many who claim to be pro-lifers, and won’t join up.) I have been active in the pro-life movement longer than any of the silly commentators mentioned above, e.g., Kirk, Ellis, Helfenbein, Metaxas, and it’s obvious they are all phonies. Pro-lifers would not be celebrating those who support Putin and Putin’s murdering, raping, looting army as they attempt to commit genocide in Ukraine. Pete Wehner and others have ably written on the faux pro-lifers, and some of their pieces have fortunately appeared on Current’s site.

Trumpy says Zelenskyy doesn’t want peace. No, he just doesn’t the peace of the graveyard for Ukraine. Rather peace would be so easy to achieve if Putin recalled his armies to Russia. That’s all it would take to end this war.
