Inauguration day was Monday. Evangelicals are still talking about the new administration. What are they saying?

Lance wants to replace NPR:

Christian Broadcasting Network’s David Brody:

Like literally, nobody cares https://t.co/y2FC4wdKJF

— David Brody (@DBrodyReports) January 22, 2025

Brody seems to believe that the primary reason Americans voted for Trump was his promise to pardon J6 insurrectionists:

77 Million Americans made this happen. The power of your vote. #WethePeople https://t.co/yoMriwFmfB

— David Brody (@DBrodyReports) January 22, 2025

Trump as Moses:

GOOD LEADERS NEED FOLLOWERS
Even Moses' own siblings were against him. The real comeback after this election is US. "Imagine what an army of lions behind a lion could do."@BibleHistoryGuy @DBrodyReports

Eric Metaxas on the former FBI director:

Brennan is a traitor to the United States. He is SCARED TO DEATH of what lies ahead — and he should be. It's called "Justice for All". Stay tuned. https://t.co/sI5wAh3R41

— Eric Metaxas (@ericmetaxas) January 23, 2025

“All you need to know”:

Mike Pence is against RFK Jr.'s confirmation. All you need to know. https://t.co/UnHKFbttOX

“A disgrace to the papacy”:

And every faithful Catholic calls Pope Francis a disgrace to the papacy. https://t.co/zO7GToTDaI

— Eric Metaxas (@ericmetaxas) January 23, 2025

“For such a time as this”:

HANNITY: "Has this… increased your faith in God."

TRUMP: "Yes I think so. … I think THAT has taken place, yeah…"

He's obviously uncomfortable talking about this… but he KNOWS God saved his life — and chose him for such a time as this. This is the headline, folks. https://t.co/7kGt3PRrzP

— Eric Metaxas (@ericmetaxas) January 23, 2025

There are probably a lot of reasons why the American church might be under God’s judgment:

How can ANY American vote to murder newborn human beings? Is your pastor speaking out about this? Are you attending a church indifferent to this evil? THIS is what the female "bishop" ought to have spoken about, but of course did not. The American church is being judged. https://t.co/sMRvoHGi4h

— Eric Metaxas (@ericmetaxas) January 23, 2025

It was a “privilege”:

What a privilege to be there on that stage among Christians who pray earnestly, take the Bible seriously, and utterly reject the woke garbage that has infiltrated mainline Protestant churches. https://t.co/nHIpcXw2N6

— Eric Metaxas (@ericmetaxas) January 22, 2025

Trump and the power of prayer:

KEEPING THE FAITH: Pastor @robertjeffress reflects on President Trump's embrace of God and explains why Americans should be relieved to have a "competent, strong leader" in the White House who "doesn't hesitate" to turn to the power of prayer. pic.twitter.com/Kugg1kUWW2

Beth is thinking out loud:

Can you imagine the response if Kamala Harris had won the election and —for whatever reason, reasonable or not—had not sworn with her hand on the Bible? Just thinking out loud…..

The PR executive guy who organized the old court evangelicals is calling for a Narendra Modi-Donald Trump alliance. Hindu nationalism meets Christian nationalism:

I predict this will also be the Golden Age of the friendship between India and America.

Tony Perkins is still talking about Bishop Budde’s sermon:

"What a wet blanket that threw over the whole event." @RepMarkHarrisNC shares reaction from the room at the Washington National Cathedral when Bishop Budde unbiblically lectured President Trump. pic.twitter.com/8UysfOpHJ0

— Tony Perkins (@tperkins) January 22, 2025

Tony and Josh want pardons for pro-lifers:

"I'm hopeful that the president will act on this immediately." @hawleymo issues a call for President Trump to pardon the pro-lifers unjustly targeted by the previous administration. pic.twitter.com/2rulp7db6W

— Tony Perkins (@tperkins) January 22, 2025

More “for such a time as this”:

I believe God has placed Donald Trump in office “for such a time as this,” in the same way Esther was placed in an influential position to make a difference.

He has faced incredible challenges on the way to his presidency, including two assassination attempts. He himself has…

Jack Graham has some things to say about Bishop Budde’s sermon:

See the face and hear the voice of a woke ideologue who represents the reason apostate churches are dead and dying. This is religion at its worst. No Jesus. No Bible. No future https://t.co/qKU2288f4x

— Jack Graham (@jackngraham) January 22, 2025

Franklin Graham “sees a difference in President Trump”:

Albert Mohler does not seem to like Trump’s J6 pardons. But what about Biden…? More here.

Mohler also uses the Bishop Budde incident to take his usual shots at Protestant liberalism. More here.

The National Association of Evangelicals is praying for Trump:

Phil Vischer has fun with Trump’s renaming plans:

Trump renames Gulf of Mexico "Gulf of America." On a roll, he renames Canada and Mexico "Not America North" and "Not America South."

Greenland to be renamed "Trumplandia." Puerto Rico will simply be known going forward as "Eric."

Paganism:

Christians are to be a people of deep compassion and great love–but this is just paganism with a thin Christian veneer. Reject it and embrace the true love of God: "Love takes no pleasure in evil, but rejoices over the truth" (1 Cor. 3:16). https://t.co/4KN1F5roOF

Karen Swallow Prior highlights this piece:

Matthew Soerens of World Relief on Trump’s immigration policies:

I'm offended that my government is accusing churches of sheltering murderers

In any case, the guidance revoked today already would have allowed ICE to raid a church in that unlikely instance

The real effect of this change is that people will be afraid to go to church on Sunday https://t.co/8eY0YST3jh pic.twitter.com/gqmuA57GbG

Secular humanism:

She’s not a pastor. Nor is her theology Christian.

Her religion is secular humanism. https://t.co/m8kOsWx2ee

The director of the Liberty University Standing for Freedom Center on climate change:

Problem solved. https://t.co/4BylFyiRZk

“Shameful and pathetic”:

I totally agree with Tony. The whimpering voice of the liberal mainline protestant church which has abandoned Scripture, doctrine, authority and all fear and hope in Jesus Christ has no power or prophetic voice in America. This display was both shameful and pathetic. https://t.co/Rg11ITr7mB

And from this ugly mess deliberately instigated by Trumpy et al, there emerges a 71 year old hero, Pamela Hemphill! What courage shown in the face of such hatred. Can you imagine how the Coup Squad will go after her now that she has rightly called them cultists.

Glad to see Metaxas has won the Most Deranged Trumpian Daily Award. He knows how to just rack up the victories with his bizarre blitzes of hate against folks like Brennan, Pence, and Pope Francis. His mouth must have been foaming when he lied that every faithful Catholic calls Pope Francis a disgrace. Most faithful Catholics, not fake ones like hangs out with, respect the Pope, even if they disagree with him on some matters of opinion.

Serious question: If she had said “President Trump— Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy“ would that have been okay with these “evangelicals?” Is their rage because she called out certain groups who need mercy? Did Jesus set limits on those to whom mercy should be offered? I am, honestly, just trying to figure out how a “Christian” objects to this.
