Tony Campolo, RIP

John Fea   |  November 19, 2024

Tony Campolo passed away today.

He was 89 years old.

He was one of the most gifted preachers I have ever heard.

If you have a few minutes, listen to him tell the story of throwing a birthday party for a prostitute in Hawaii.

It's worth your time. pic.twitter.com/8oHjiUulGc

More to come on this story.

Here is some of what I have written about Campolo over the years:

A great communicator and Christian man. One antidote I remember from one of his talks was about cultural differences. He said he grew up in a mixed cultural environment. His was from strong Italian roots and one of his best friends was Jewish. He put it this way: When he left for school his mother would say, “Tony, do you have your lunch?” When he left for school from his Jewish friend’s house, his mother would say, “Jamie, did you remember your books?”
