The Trump line about guns pointed at Liz Cheney triggered Russell Moore which, in turn, triggered MAGA evangelicals

John Fea   |  November 2, 2024

Once again, Russell Moore’s Twitter feed provides insight into the current state of American evangelical Christianity on the eve of the 2024 presidential election.

Moore tweeted:

It is disgusting and disgraceful that our children are growing up to see this as normal. May God have mercy. https://t.co/QY4ECQMl7F

— Russell Moore (@drmoore) November 1, 2024

And here are just some of the more than two thousands comments he received on X:

You are disgusting and disgraceful.

As I pointed out in book, it is telling the things you can make time to speak out about. In the full clip, Trump goes on to say, “They're all war hawks when they're sitting in Washington in a nice building saying ‘Oh gee, let's send 10,000 troops into the mouths of the enemies.'…

You're voting for Kamala Harris. Also, you're a liar.

Pretty sure the Bible has something to say about lying Russell

It would be great if he would humble himself enough to admit he was wrong on this. We will see – Trump Derangement Syndrome appears to be real.

In a society that celebrates sodomy, castration of boys, mutilation of girls, trans-insanity, and the murder of the unborn, this is what provokes Russell Moore. https://t.co/ru2xYBIICF

It is dishonest to suggest he doesn’t find those things disgusting. His record stands clear. He’s continued to speak about them — almost weekly on our podcast.

The problem we face right now is the selective outrage of so-called conservatives, who have allowed their moral frame…

What David French and Russell Moore need is not restoration. They need the Holy Spirit to bring them to repentance and salvation.

Their fruit from leave to root is that of a tare. #CriticalConsciousness

Russell Moore is a coward and false prophet. He sold his soul to Baal long ago and the SBC should oust him immediately before he does anymore damage to the convention. https://t.co/PJeVNQ6TBw

— Mayor Robert Burns (@RobertBurns82) November 1, 2024

You have pointed this out before. Russell Moore doesn't speak unless it's against Trump.
Russell Moore is a Soros operative. Don't be fooled by this man.

— Greg Williams (@gswillliams) November 1, 2024

You support Russell Moore? Then you are not a Christian. Do you believe in evolution too?https://t.co/vrMyO1JaX6 pic.twitter.com/NJVr5B2p6A

There’s a way to rightly hold Trump accountable for immoral positions he holds (e.g., abortion & LGBT issues).

But lying about or misrepresenting what he said, as Moore does here, is not the way and is also sinful.

But everyone now knows Moore is a Democrat political operative. https://t.co/LUoEFaiwCR

“Trigger” would be ashamed, even in his memorial place in the Roy Rogers museum, if he could hear all the “triggering ” going on

    in this election marathon.

In my case it is all getting “pull the trigger” and get this thing over. This is not what Jesus was talking about in Mathew 10.

So much nonsense in response to Moore. So much knee-jerk non-thinking.
