As many of you know, we have been covering the cuts at Cornerstone University. Get up to speed here.
Members of the Cornerstone University community have come together to form a new website: “VOICE OF CU: Coming together to shed light on darkness at Cornerstone University.” Read it here.
From the ABOUT page:
Voice of CU began as anonymous platform for students, alumni, parents, faculty & staff to share concerns respectfully & stay informed with the latest news. However, as faculty & staff opened up about a āculture of intimidationā, Voice of CU became a whistleblower effort. (I hope to write in greater detail laterājust getting the website off the ground right nowā¦)
Goals:
- Assert the value of humanities-based majors for a Christian university & advocate for the essential role of full-time professors in the program. Understand why the humanities program was drastically reduced before genuine efforts were made to revitalize & market it properly.
- Assist in identifying areas where breakdowns in communication & trust between administration & students/faculty/staff may have occurred. Recommend steps to address & fix the problems.
- Ensure that faculty & staff have been treated with dignity & respect, not just during recent events, but since Dr. Gerson Moreno-RiaƱo arrived at Cornerstone in 2021.
Voice of CU is run by a CU Alumnus. The alumnus was at Cornerstone University during Dr. Gerson Moreno-RiaƱoās arrival.
So far the website has
- A post on how the Cornerstone University administration changed the faculty handbook to enable the firing of tenured faculty.
- The names of the 153 employees who have left Cornerstone University since the arrival of president Gerson Moreno RiaƱo in Fall 2021.
- Cornerstone faculty testimonials.
- Primary documents related to faculty relations under the Moreno RiaƱo presidency.
Again, follow our coverage here. It’s really one-stop shop on this story.
