GOP political activist David Barton responds to Trump’s Republican Party platform

John Fea   |  July 9, 2024

If you have not been following this GOP platform debate, get up to speed here and here.

David Barton, the GOP political activist who uses the American past to promote his activism, was a member of the 2024 GOP platform committee. Today he responded to the platform.

Barton is walking on egg-shells. He doesn’t want to get on Trump’s bad side, but still wants to register (half-heartedly) his concern about the platform’s statement on abortion. The Christian Right is in a real dilemma right now. They have built their political brand on opposing abortion, but now they are willing to weaken that brand to get a convicted felon and adulterer back into the White House. Now that’s a story.
