CURRENT keeps rolling along. We’d love your support!

John Fea   |  June 18, 2024

As I’ve said multiple times at this blog, I hate asking for money. They didn’t teach me how to do this graduate school, but after three years of serving as the Executive Editor of Current I am realizing that these kinds of pleas come with the territory.

Current is an online site of opinion and commentary. It has three components:

  1. We spend the most time, under the direction of editor Eric Miller, on our daily features. All of our features go through a rigorous editing process and we pay our writers. We publish a lot of politics, religion, history, culture, and creative non-fiction. In some ways, the “features” section acts as its own journal of ideas.
  2. The Arena Blog is run by writer and historian Nadya Williams and offers a regular group of writers interested in culture, family life, history, higher education, religion and politics.
  3. My blog, The Way of Improvement Leads Home, has been around for seventeen years. It’s kind of an eclectic space (and an acquired taste), but you can mostly find stuff on American history, American evangelicalism, academic life, and American politics. You will also need to put up with the occasional Bruce Springsteen or New York Mets post! 🙂

There are two ways of getting direct access to our content:

  1. Subscribe. It’s free and you can choose to get an e-mail update in real time, daily, or weekly. (I recommend daily as opposed to real time. This way you don’t have to have your e-mail box flooded with real time blog posts). Scroll down to the bottom right corner of this site and subscribe today!
  2. Membership: We are doing our best to remove the Current paywall, but right now we can’t survive without it. If you like what we are doing, and want to help support our work, click the red MEMBERSHIP button in the top right corner of the site and join at one our levels of commitment. Members get full access to the comments section and access to all our features and blog posts.

Thanks so much for considering Current!
