This was James Dobson in a letter to his September 1988 newsletter to his Focus on the Family constituency. Read it here. By the way, the “he” in the title of this post is a reference to Bill Clinton. The context is the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

Dobson goes on: “Clinton is not the only politician in either party who lacks character, certainly, but he is the only one in American history, to my knowledge, who has been specifically applauded for his deceit.”
