The triple play in The Odd Couple

John Fea   |  April 17, 2024

A 13-year-old Howie Rose, the longtime New York Mets radio broadcaster, was at Shea Stadium in 1967 for the filming of a scene from The Odd Couple.

Here’s the scene:

On last night’s broadcast, Rose said they filmed the scene in two takes before the start of a Mets-Pirates game.

This afternoon the Mets are celebrating the 60th anniversary of Shea (they now play at Citi Field). Jack Fisher, who was on the mound for the Odd Couple filming, will be there. (Fisher was also the first pitcher to throw a pitch in Shea when it opened in 1964). It’s 1:10 start. 🙂
