Producing an online daily journal like Current takes time and effort. Like many little magazines, we have to operate with the possibility that we may not be around next year or even next month. Our staff has put in thousands of hours with little or no pay. Thus far it has all been a labor of love. As Executive Editor, I continue to be amazed that we have such talented people willing to write for us and work for us and I am grateful that so many readers have responded positively to what we are doing at this site. We continue to believe it is important work.
If you are a regular reader who has benefited from what we publish at Current, I hope you will consider becoming a member. Click the red membership button in the top right corner of the website to learn more.
Current members get unlimited access to our daily posts and blogs. They receive full access to our daily features, book reviews, The Arena blog, and The Way of Improvement Leads Home blog (including over 500 author interviews, our twice-weekly “Evangelical Roundup, and our ongoing coverage of American history, religion, and politics). No more paywall.
Members help us carry out our mission. If you are regular reader, you know that we are trying to create a space where we platform writers with a variety of views on matters important to American democracy. We are not fans of the media silos that seem to dominate public discourse today. We think this approach makes our pages somewhat unpredictable and exciting. If you want the same view of the world in your mailbox every day, perhaps Current is not the place for you.
If you become a Current member you will help us:
- Keep the site up and running.
- Continue to pay our writers
- Help us pay our staff
- Provide some financial stability so we no longer have to produce this publication on a shoestring
- Help us to stay ad free.
Thanks for considering Current.
John Fea, Executive Editor and co-founder
