“Pennsylvania is in great need of election reform….”
Didn’t we just have some type of election reform? The redistricting, for one thing. He spoke about more transparency. Like what? We vote, the votes are counted, the winner is announced. I just don’t know what he means. Does anyone here understand?

Many election denying people cite the time to count votes as a problem – many regular folks are also not happy with this. This may not be a sufficient answer – but a wonky YouTube video from each state working with a trusted civic organization EDUCATING us on the details of counting votes might help. I was a precinct election judge for 5 elections and this is pretty boring stuff – but it might be worth an attempt. Crazy will be crazy, but some basic facts for all to see might help. Back to the time issue: Any election night call for a candidate as the winner is not based on all votes counted. Provisional ballots, military ballots, last minute (and LEGAL) mail-in ballots will all be counted after election day. The closer the race the longer it may take to count every vote. This is nothing new. Of course, each state is different and each county can be slightly different. Add a larger amount of mail ballots, and depending on when the state allows them to be processed, will also factor in. I am told Florida has an ideal counting system – reformed by Jeb Bush after the 2000 election. And one of the big problems = Funding. How do you create a well oiled machine ready to be brought out every 2 years that really depends on “volunteer” help?
One more point of education, this time from the media: Election Denying types (some) will cite the media calling races very early, even when the other candidate is ahead at 8pm. In Maryland the governor’s race was called immediately with 0% reporting. “What, how can this be? I smell corruption!” A wonky discussion at the Election Desk at the beginning of the night might help. I know a lot of math will be discussed, but those who want to learn will and will understand and go to bed knowing Steve Kornaki is not helping to fix the election.
