When “Heil Hitler!” meets a Christian worship service and the preacher is Jim Jones

Watch this from last night’s Trump rally in Youngstown, Ohio. From what I understand the music you hear was played in the arena as Trump spoke.

Trump's rally in Youngstown, Ohio, ends with the dramatic music playing. Strange vibes. pic.twitter.com/wMQwAJ5QfU

Sociologist Sam Perry gets it right:

Listen to the tone of voice and cadence. The emotional music in the background. The power of a crowd moving in unison. He's using altar call tactics.

Wish there were people who study this stuff. https://t.co/gqfQ2WOAK1

Watching, and listening to both the music and Trump, was eerie. He did sound like Jim Jones, when he was calling the people to “Come, Come My Children” etc. in order to drink the poisoned Koolaid.
