In a recent survey of Current patrons we learned that some folks support the site in the way they would buy a subscription to a magazine or newspaper. Indeed, as a so-called “little magazine,” Current is a small business. (We are officially an LLC.) Let me encourage you to support our work as part of last weekend’s “Small Business Saturday.”
Other patrons think about supporting Current in the way they might support a non-profit organization. If you are in this camp, I hope you will consider becoming a patron as part of today’s “Giving Tuesday.” (To be clear, Current is not a non-profit, nor is patronage tax-deductible.)
However you understand our work at Current, we could really use your support. After nearly nine months of publication we are growing, but we are still not where we want to be financially. We have some new developments coming in January and it costs money to get them off the ground. Once again, I am reminded of the words of In These Times founding editor James Weinstein (1926-2005): “When I founded In These Times I thought I was going to be an editor, but I discovered that to keep it I had to become a beggar.”
Thanks for your support!
