Here is a New York Times reader from Georgia responding to this New York Times op-ed:
Democrats are misreading the room to an astonishing degree. Let this sink in: my Mexican yard man likes Trump. Although immigration laws should be a primary concern for him, it’s not so important that he would vote for a Democrat. He’s brown, Hispanic, Catholic, pro-nuclear family, pro-law enforcement, pro-work, anti-welfare, and doesn’t care about transgender bathrooms, safe spaces, microaggressions, The Latinx pronoun, thin actors portraying fat characters, gay wedding cakes, etc. He wants to earn money and for his daughter to get a good education. You want to win over this guy and people like him? Offer the guy something he cares about and moves the needle in his life. I don’t know why we’re making this so difficult.
