On Sunday I flew down to sunny Palm Beach, Florida to deliver the Presidential Distinguished Scholar Lectures at Palm Beach Atlantic University. I am making new friends in this hospitable and thoughtful intellectual community and hopefully saying some things from the lectern that have been useful to the university’s students and faculty. I even got a tour of the area that took me past Mar-a-Lago! 🙂
In the last couple of days I managed to get a few things in print beyond my weekly column at Current. If you are interested, check out my article at Religion News Service: “Christians: It’s Time to Add Infrastructure to the Pro-Life Agenda.” And yesterday, The Conversation published my piece “Cherry-picking the Bible and using verses out of context isn’t a practice confined to those opposed to vaccines – it has been done for centuries.”
I also did a podcast interview on the importance of history with Tom Capone of the North American Distance Learning Association. Listen or watch here.
Finally, next week Messiah University will host its annual American Democracy Lecture. This year’s speaker is Yale historian and Pulitzer Prize-winner David Blight. We are very excited to welcome to the campus. Learn more here.
