As academic historians debate historiography and Dunmore’s Proclamation, a book on “Marxism” by a Fox News commentator has sold 1 million copies

  |  September 23, 2021

I mentioned this book today in my weekly feature at Current. While American historians are having debates over historiography and Dunmore’s Proclamation, Mark Levin sits atop The New York Times best-seller’s list.

Here is the Simon & Schuster press release:

Threshold Editions, a division of Simon & Schuster, announced today that Mark R. Levin’s #1 blockbuster bestseller, AMERICAN MARXISM, has sold one million copies across all formats — print books, ebooks, and e-audiobooks–in only 10 weeks on sale. The October 3, 2021 New York Times bestseller list also marks the book’s 10th straight week at #1. In addition, AMERICAN MARXISM debuted at #1 on Publishers Weekly, The Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestseller lists where it still remains in the top 10.

Jennifer Long, Deputy Publisher for Threshold said, “We are thrilled about the astounding success of AMERICAN MARXISM and its enormous appeal to the general public. We applaud Mark Levin for his compelling scholarship and work. Bookscan reports AMERICAN MARXISM is currently the top-selling nonfiction book of 2021, and we anticipate it staying high on bestseller lists through the rest of the year.”

All 9 of Mark Levin’s books have been New York Times bestsellers. AMERICAN MARXISM is Levin’s 7th #1 in a row and is in its 13th printing with well over 1,000,000 copies in print.

In American Marxism, Levin seeks to rally the American people to defend their liberty, traditions, families, and the Constitution from a counterrevolution to the American Revolution that seeks to destroy the existing civil society. Levin explains how the core elements of Marxist ideology have been uniquely tailored to and applied to American society and are now pervasive throughout the culture, forming a variety of sub-movements surrounding such issues as “climate change,” “genderism,” “critical race theory,” etc. These American Marxist movements have become powerful forces in our schools, the media, and corporations, as well as Hollywood, the Democratic Party, and the Biden presidency. Levin describes how they often cloak themselves in deceptive labels like “progressivism,” “democratic socialism,” “social activism,” and more, to disguise their true intentions. Levin also exposes many of the leading institutions, intellectuals, scholars, and activists behind this counterrevolution, and provides us with some answers and ideas on ways to push back.

Mark R. Levin, nationally syndicated talk radio host, host of LevinTV, chairman of Landmark Legal Foundation, and the host of the Fox News show Life, Liberty, & Levin, is the author of seven consecutive #1 New York Times bestsellers: Liberty and Tyranny, Ameritopia, The Liberty Amendments, Plunder and Deceit, Rediscovering Americanism, Unfreedom of the Press, and American Marxism. Liberty and Tyranny spent three months at #1 and sold more than 1.5 million copies. His books Men in Black and Rescuing Sprite were also New York Times bestsellers. Levin is an inductee of the National Radio Hall of Fame and was a top adviser to several members of President Ronald Reagan’s cabinet. He holds a BA from Temple University and a JD from Temple University Law School.

Trump evangelical and Christian Right leader James Dobson recently interviewed Levin. Dobson calls it “one of the most important that we’ve aired in many years” because “we live in a far more dangerous place than even a month ago and we desperately need to understand the times in which we live.”

Listen:

Levin describes America’s “enemies” as “thugs,” “liars,” and promoters of “pseudo events.” Interesting. I didn’t realize Levin was a never-Trumper. 🙂

Attention white evangelical pastors: Levin tells Dobson that people should leave religious congregations if their pastors talk about Black Lives Matter or other “woke” issues.
