COVID-19 at Christian colleges: update

COVID-19 at Liberty University is still out of control, but this did not stop the university from having full capacity at their football game last weekend. Cedarville University seems to be getting things under control after a disastrous first week of classes. Grove City College, Dallas Baptist University, and Asbury University have had rough weeks. Let’s hope things improve soon.

Here are some of the latest numbers. Compare with our August 31, 2021 update.

Here is the state of COVID-19 at some Christian colleges:

Messiah University (as of September 7): 12 active cases. 72% vaccination rate. The number of cases are down and the vaccination rate is up.

Liberty University (as of September 1): 488 active cases and nearly 1500 in quarantine. Liberty does not publish its vaccination rate. Active cases are way up. They have more than tripled since our last update.

Cedarville University (as of September 6): 45 active case. Cedarville does not publish its vaccination rate. They seem to be getting things under control since our last update.

John Brown University (as of September 2): 6 active cases. 10 students in quarantine. 71% of faculty vaccinated. 43.6 of the student body vaccinated.

Wheaton College (as of September 6): 10 active cases. 48 students in quarantine. 78% vaccination rate among students. The number of quarantined students has spiked since our last update.

Calvin University (as of September 7): 6 active cases. 1 student in quarantine.

Gordon College (week of August 30): 8 active cases. Gordon does not publish its vaccination rate.

Westmont College (as of August 26): 5 active cases. 2 students in quarantine. Westmont does not publish its vaccination rate.

BIOLA University (as of September 5): 15 active cases. BIOLA does not publish its vaccination rate. The number of cases have tripled since our last update.

Eastern University (as of September 7): 2 active cases. Eastern does not publish its vaccination rate.

Grove City College (as of September 5): 45 active cases. Grove City does not publish its vaccination rate. The number of active cases has more than doubled since our last update.

Taylor University: As far as I can tell, Taylor still does not yet have a COVID dashboard.

Indiana Wesleyan University: COVID dashboard is still not updated.

Bethel University-MN (as of September 6): 6 active cases. Bethel does not publish its vaccination rate.

Seattle Pacific University (as of September 7): 43 active cases. Seattle Pacific does not publish its vaccination rate.

Geneva College (as of September 2): 5 active cases. Geneva does not publish its vaccination rate.

Covenant College (as of August 27): 9 active cases. 21 students and employees in quarantine. Covenant does not publish its vaccination rate. It has also not updates its dashboard since our last update.

Abilene Christian University (as of September 7): 10 active cases. 51 students and employees in quarantine. 74.6% of active cases are unvaccinated. The number in quarantine has more than doubled since our last update.

Asbury University (as of September 2): 18 active cases in last 7 days. 68 students and employees in quarantine. Asbury does not publish its vaccination rate. Asbury has 9x more active cases and more than 3x more students and employees in quarantine since our last update.

Baylor University (as of September 7): 93 active cases in the last 7 days. 73.9% vaccination rate. Active cases are rising. Vaccination rate is slightly rising.

Dallas Baptist University (as of September 7): 56 active cases and 150 students in quarantine. Dallas Baptist does not publish its vaccination rate. The number of active cases has more than doubled. Students are now required to wear masks in class and chapel.

Evangel University (as of September): 3 active cases. 3 students in quarantine. Evangel does not publish its vaccination rate.

George Fox University (as of September 6): 1 active case. George Fox does not publish its vaccination rate.

Houston Baptist University still does not have a COVID-19 dashboard.

Palm Beach Atlantic University (as of September 3): 24 active cases. Palm Beach Atlantic does not publish its vaccination rate.

Samford University (as of September 6): 6 active cases. Samford does not publish its vaccination rate. A nursing professor just died of COVID-19.

Whitworth University (as of August 28): COVID-19 dashboard is not public.
