Eric Metaxas on the COVID-19 vaccine: “I can spread false information all day long.” Tells listeners to “get a gun” to stop those gathering vaccination data

John Fea   |  July 24, 2021

To be fair, Metaxas does not believe that anti-vaxxers like Tucker Carlson and others are spreading “false information.” Metaxas actually believes that the real science behind the vaccination is “nonsense” and “disinformation.”

People are dying of COVID-19 in large numbers again. Almost all of them are dying because they are unvaccinated. This Eric Metaxas interview with Naomi Wolf begins with some standard evangelical victimization rhetoric and then Metaxas starts his rant privileging freedom over life.

Watch:

As for Wolf, she seems to have moved to the right after this scandal.

Maybe Metaxas should talk to Phil Valentine, a conservative evangelical radio host. Here is CNN:

For months, conservative Nashville, Tennessee-based radio host Phil Valentine has repeatedly made posts on multiple social media platforms telling his fans that if they weren’t at risk for Covid-19, they shouldn’t get the vaccine.

That message changed on July 23, when the Valentine family made a public statement on the Facebook page of his talk radio station’s Facebook page.

“Phil contracted the Covid virus a little over a week ago and has since been hospitalized and is in very serious condition, suffering from Covid Pneumonia and the attendant side effects,” the family statement reads, which emphasizes that Valentine has never been an anti-vaxxer. “(Phil) regrets not being more vehemently ‘Pro-Vaccine’ and looks forward to being able to more vigorously advocate that position as soon as he is back on the air, which we all hope will be soon.”

It ends by urging listeners to continue praying for Valentine and to “PLEASE GO GET VACCINATED!”

As I wrote yesterday at Current: “We have favored “rights” over the pursuit of the common good. This is particularly tragic in light of what the New Testament teaches about loving our neighbors.”
