I occasionally write about Messiah’s Digital Harrisburg Initiative (DHI). My colleague David Pettegrew and his team do an amazing job of serving our local community through public and digital history. I am thrilled to see that the American Association for State and Local History has rewarded this work with the Leadership in History Award.
In the last few years the work of the DHI has focused on the Commonwealth Monument Project, a special “City Beautiful” issue of Pennsylvania History, and a wide range of public humanities projects that Messiah students and faculty have carried out in collaboration with local organizations.
Other winners of this year’s Leadership in History Award include: The Museum of the American Revolution (Philadelphia, PA), The Library Company of Philadelphia (Philadelphia, PA), and the Virginia Museum of History and Culture (Richmond, VA).
