Shane Claiborne on the death penalty:

One of the many problems with the death penalty is that you can’t bring someone back from the dead when you get it wrong… It is long past time to abolish the death penalty. https://t.co/quoWRPUdrd

What did televangelists look like before they were famous? Nick Jonas actually transformed into Joel Osteen:

A reviewer thinks Beth Barr did not go far enough in The Making of Biblical Womanhood. Barr responds:

Very briefly, because I have a meeting in 5, I want to thank @JillHicksKeeton for her great engagement. I did write a book as an evangelical for evangelicals (plus I really do believe Jesus sets women free). https://t.co/FvfekNHuLl

Religion News Service covers Beth’s book here.

Latino evangelicals and the COVID vaccine.

The filibuster and demonic forces:

The Senate filibuster is part of "the struggle of angelic beings against the demonic forces," says religious-right activist Jim Garlow. Tony Perkins says it's “the one thing standing between the radical left and the end of America as we know it.” https://t.co/lghiQkMjnC pic.twitter.com/2pADMaLyQk

Tim Keller on Charles Taylor:

Charles Taylor (The Ethics of Authenticity) argues that our secular culture is the most morally inarticulate ever. It is highly moralistic about its ideas of justice, and at the same moment insists that all moral values are socially constructed. Both ideas cannot be true.

An evangelical pastor reminds us that good ends do not justify bad means, Democrats are not the Anti-Christ, and there is only one Messiah.

More evangelical work on racial reconciliation

Hard to disagree with Hagee:

We live in an information age, yet I believe we are one of the most uninformed generations in the history of humanity when it comes to the knowledge of the truth.

Promise Keepers is back:

Join me at the Promise Keepers Men’s Conference, July 16 -17! The world has changed so much since Promise Keepers inspired millions of men in the 1990s, but I have good news: Jesus Christ hasn’t changed at all, and Promise Keepers is back. Albert Mohler’s defense of conversion therapy. He is also talking about French smoothie makers:

The “Editorial Mission Statement” of the website Religion Dispatches says: “What does it mean to cover “religion” as a subject versus preaching, practicing, or promoting it?” It also says that it “invites free discussion of religious ideas.” That’s good to know. I always thought their mission was to do everything in their power to destroy American evangelicalism.

Liberty University’s Standing for Freedom Center fellow Jenna Ellis has started something called The Election Integrity Alliance:

NEW: The Election Integrity Alliance

We are continuing the work to restore American election integrity through a central hub of allies.

Charlie Kirk wants Trump back on Facebook:

The US Supreme Court should overturn the Facebook’s “Oversight Board’s” “ruling” which upholds the outlawing of the 45th President of the United States from social media.

This is a big tech, corporate oligarchy without standing and it’s gone too far. Enough is enough.

— Charlie Kirk (@charliekirk11) May 5, 2021

Kirk, an evangelical Christian, is still mocking Biden’s speech:

Joe Biden can’t seem to master pronunciation of a simple website.

Does anyone really trust this man with the nuclear codes?

This evangelical leader believes critical race theory is a “cancer.”

David Brody and Stephen Miller pile-on Liz Cheney:

Just In: @StephenM says, "it is outrageous the way Liz Cheney continues to attack not only our President, our members , our voters, our principles, our values."
