Hard to disagree, Paul. But its also hard to top Jungleland, Thunder Road, and Born to Run. Actually, I may like “Meeting Across the River” the best, especially as a sort of preface for Jungleland.
Thunder Road and Backstreets are timeless narratives, which is why they're at the top for me. Jungleland and Born were my favorites in college but don't age quite as well (not to say I dislike them, we're talking degrees of like here) — the metaphors/storyline can seem a little heavy-handed in comparison to subtler ones in the other two.
