The implication for a picture like this is that America is better off 'cause of all the goodies that FDR got “built”. The web site also argues such government generosity is something to admire.
This reminds me of F.A. Hayek's argument: It's not a matter of whether government can build something useful or “good” – Hitler's government built the Autobahn – but of WHO decides what gets built and what BETTER things may have been built if government hadn't decided to centrally plan the economy in such ways.
D.C. politicians could take our tax money and give everybody chickens to keep in their back yard and then promote that all Americans have fresh eggs!!! Of course, those politicians ignored the fact that maybe not everybody likes eggs, some folks may be vegan, some folks would rather have a goat than a chicken or some might rather have an iPhone.
The short version is this: Government knows how to spend your money better than you do.
Or: The end of federalism
;-P
Ditto, Mr. Van Dyke.
