I am now fully back on east coast time after spending five days in Malibu and I was thus able to return to my writing routine. This morning I spent three hours on Chapter Four and finished (finally!) a draft of the chapter. I will now spend the next several days editing, rewriting, and polishing.
This morning I wrote the conclusion to the chapter. Conclusions have always been difficult for me. Do I merely summarize what I wrote and argued in the chapter? When I take this approach I am often worried about wasting the reader’s time. Do I gesture toward the next chapter? Perhaps. But this can be difficult when the next chapter has yet to be written. I also need to develop more patience in my conclusion-writing. I want to finish the chapter and move on, but that one or two paragraph conclusion is standing in my way!
Stay tuned.
