I spent all day on Thursday teaching a seminar on colonial America to teachers enrolled in the “Teacher as Scholars” program at Messiah College. So I must admit I did not get a lot of time to devote to the ABS project today. When I returned home from my day of teaching I sat down, turned on the England-Uruguay World Cup match, and fell asleep. No motivation today. Sometimes this happens.
But I did manage to get my second wind later in the evening after an invigorating walk with my daughter. No intense reading of primary sources today, but I did start reading and processing Peter Thuesen‘s excellent In Discordance with the Scriptures: American Protestant Battles Over Translating the Bible. I received my copy in the mail this morning and spent a couple of hours with it before I went to bed. I think it will be useful to my project.
I am more optimistic about today. I need to install an air-condition unit and mow the lawn, but the rest of the day will be devoted to the American Bible Society. Stay tuned.
