Calvin Festival of Faith & Writing

John Fea   |  April 10, 2014 Leave a Comment

I have never been to the Calvin College Festival of Faith  & Writing, but I would like to attend one day.

I am always impressed with the big-time authors that Calvin attracts to this three-day event for Christian writers.  This year’s lineup includes James McBride, Annie Lamott, Miroslav Volf, Richard Foster, Cornelius Plantinga, Valerie Weaver-Zercher, Jana Riess, John Wilson, Scott Cairns, Charles Marsh, and Rachel Held Evans.

I will be in Atlanta with a bunch of American historians this weekend.  It is a shame that the annual meeting of the Organization of American Historians falls on the same weekend as this festival. We historians could probably learn something about how to write good history from the folks gathered in Grand Rapids.

On the other hand, why aren’t there more historians invited to Calvin for this event?
