Next week I get the privilege of presenting the annual Messiah College Religion and Society Lecture. My friend Jake Jacobsen, the chair of the organizing committee, tells me that I am the first Messiah College professor to deliver this lecture. I am honored to join such a stellar group of scholars and intellectuals who have presented this lecture in the past, including Jimmy Carter, Martin Marty, James Cone, Nancy Ammerman, Monica Hellwig, Miroslav Volf, Stanley Hauerwaus, Neil Postman, Emmanuel Katongole, and Stephen Prothero,
The lecture is scheduled for Feb. 25, 2014 at 7:30pm in Parmer Hall in the Calvin and Janet High Center for Worship and Performing Arts. Admission is free and open to the public; no ticket is required.
My topic for the evening will be: “The Complex Connections between Christianity and the American Nation”
In addition to the lecture, I will be speaking in Messiah College chapel at 9:30 on the morning of the 25th.
I hope to see you there.
Congratulations John. Wish I could be there. Any chance it will be filmed and available online to view.
