Do You Want to Be a National History Day Judge?

John Fea   |  February 6, 2014 3 Comments

This post is for my friends and fellow historians in the South-Central Pennsylvania region.  Every year, the Messiah College History Department hosts one of the regional rounds of the National History Day competition.  Students from neighboring counties converge on campus to present their projects and compete for a spot in the state finals and, hopefully, nationals.

Readers of The Way of Improvement Leads Home know how much I have enjoyed working at National History Day in the past (I can usually be found in one of the judges rooms tallying scores).

If you are in the area, we need you! Please consider joining us for what is always a great day of history and service to the community.

If you are or were a history major, work in a historical organization, teach history (at the college, high school, or middle school level), or have some connection to the historical community in the region (or beyond), we would love to consider having you as a judge.

The day usually runs from 8am to 2pm and lunch is provided for all judges.

For more information e-mail me at jfea(at)messiah(dot)edu or James LaGrand, local coordinator, at jlagrand(at)messiah(dot)edu

I'll consider it. What's for lunch?

Tom: Would love to fly you in from LA if I had the budget.
