How Participation in National History Day Makes Better Students

Every March hundreds of high school and middle school students come to the campus of Messiah College for the southeast Pennsylvania regional round of the National History Day.  From the perspective of the Messiah History Department, the day provides a great opportunity to connect with the public and to work closely with our own students, many of whom serve as judges.

A recent study has now shown that students who participate in the National History Day competition do better than their peers on standardized tests, are better writers, and are better critical thinkers.
