Some Tips for a Successful Research Trip

John Fea   |  March 9, 2011 Leave a Comment

Tenured Radical has a great post on what everyone needs to know before they hit the road (or the skies) for their next research tip.  As someone who has spent his fair share in the archives and on the road, I concur with everything she says.

Here are her tips:

1.  Research trips are expensive.  Do everything possible to minimize costs.

2.  Call ahead

3.  Every archive has a different policy regarding the retrieval of documents.  Also, consider using a digital camera instead of making photocopies.

4.  Check to see if what you need is available on line first.

5.  Take time to have fun.

Tenured Radical develops all five of these points in her post.  Great stuff!
