Last night after my American Revolution course and a department meeting I flew to Savannah, Georgia to lead a Gilder-Lehrman Institute–Teaching American History grant with Savannah elementary school teachers.
My assignment was to deliver two lectures on the economic and religious motivations for the settlement of North America. I left around noon to catch my flight back to Harrisburg, leaving the teachers in the capable hands of TAH project director Leah Colby, who led a pedagogy session focused on how to teach early American history. It was a great morning with a great group of engaged teachers.
I hope to return to Savannah again very soon. Maybe the next time I will get a chance to explore this amazing colonial city.
