When I was interviewing at Messiah College, the history department search committee asked me if I was interested in teaching a course in Pennsylvania History. I said yes, but after I arrived the curriculum changed and the course was no longer needed. (Teachers would get their dose of Pennsylvania history from the U.S. Survey Course).
Someday I would like to give a Pennsylvania History course a crack. If that day ever comes, I will seriously consider using Jeffery A. Davis and Paul Douglas Newman’s Pennsylvania History: Essays and Documents, which is due out shortly with Pearson. Each chapter offers two essays by well-known Pennsylvania historians followed by three primary documents and a primary image. The Pearson website has the Table of Contents and a sample chapter.
This looks like a wonderful teaching resource.
