Academic Earth is a website of video lectures by professors at some of America’s great universities.
The pickings for American history are slim, but you can find all twenty-seven lectures from David Blight’s “Civil War and Reconstruction” class at Yale. At the start of his opening lecture Blight tells a funny story about a student reading the Yale Daily News during a lecture on the Dred Scott case.
Here are a few of the lectures I would watch if I had more time:
Michael Sandel, “Justice: What’s the Right Thing to Do?”
Clayborne Carson, “African American History: The Modern Freedom Struggle“
Lynn Hunt, “Modern Civilization from 1750-Present“
