I have never been under the false impression that Messiah College is on par with Dartmouth when it comes to training students in the humanities or other liberal arts disciplines. I would certainly like this to be true, and I think that there are a lot of things that we do well, but we will probably never have the kind of resources that an Ivy League institution like Dartmouth possesses.
Dartmouth has a fine history department that seems to have given some thought to what their graduates can do with a history major. Here is a small piece on the subject from their history department newsletter.
Even more telling is this chart, tracing the kinds of work that Dartmouth history majors do after college.

I'd love to see a similar chart for Messiah students. I wonder whether some of the numbers on there (Finance & Financial Institutions) have anything to do with the connections one's parents or family have? It didn't even occur to me to head in that direction!
Good point, Janet. Wall Street recruits Ivy League grads regardless of their majors.
