A few things that caught my eye this week:
Edmund Morgan’s and Jill Lepore’s reviews of Annette Gordon Reed’s The Hemingses of Monticello: An American Family.
H.W. Brands reviews two new books on the dark side of 19th century Mormonism.
Randall Balmer answers questions about his book God in the White House.
The New York Times Magazine’s “College Issue” is focused on “Teaching.” It is worth a look for articles on the relationship between teaching and writing, the popularity of on-line lectures, and Barack Obama’s teaching style as a law professor. There is even a professor’s fashion show!
What is your Sarah Palin baby name? Mine is “Chin Trout Palin.”
University press textbook sales are declining and no one seems to know why.
Top Young Historian: Our friend Randall Stephens! Congrats!
Bald Blogger (Phil) made it through Ike.
