Sunday Night Odds and Ends

John Fea   |  September 14, 2008 Leave a Comment

A few things I have been reading this week:

Timothy Meager offers the best analysis of Obama’s “Catholic problem” that I have seen.

How NOT to submit an article to a scholarly journal

Favorite line of the week: “Clips like that make me think evangelicals must truly have God’s blessing. They couldn’t have achieved such success on their talents alone.” –John Turner at Religion and American History on this stirring video example of “Evangelical Locomotion.”

Ambrose Hofstadter Bierce III has retired after a short blogging career. We will miss you AHB!

When Brooke Allen was not researching and wrting about the religious beliefs (or lack thereof) of the Founding Fathers, she was making a compelling case for chain bookstores. (From the Atlantic archives).

Have you been following the historian’s feeding frenzy on Princeton’s Sean Wilentz? See here and here and here and here.

Patrick Deneen’s Berryesque reflection on technology, culture, and virtue.
