I have never met Helen Burgin Fithian Moore. Nor was I aware of her existence until I came across her obituary in The South Carolina State. What struck me about the obituary (and why my google blog alert brought it to my attention) was the mention that Helen was related to, Philip Vickers Fithian.
She was the widow of Everett Walter Moore, Sr. Helen was born at home in Greenwich, N.J., a descendant of Philip Vickers Fithian, who was instrumental in the Greenwich Tea Burning.
If Helen was anything like Philip, or any of the other Fithian descendants I have met in my work on The Way of Improvement Leads Home, I am sure she was a fine woman. It looks like she led a full life.
Philip didn’t have any children.>>Philip Vickers FITHIAN and Helen Burgin FITHIAN are 2nd cousins 4 times removed. Their common ancestors are Samuel FITHIAN Sr. and Priscilla BARNES.
Andrea: You are absolutely correct. My mistake. I will make the change in the post.
I want to thank John Fea for his kind words about my Mother, Helen Burgin Fithian Moore. She was, indeed, a fine woman and led a very full and active life. She was so proud to be related to Philip Vickers Fithian. She also kept diaries for years. I also want to thank Andrea B for letting me know exactly how we were related. I will have to check the Family Bible and see if Samual or Pricilla are mentioned.
